This is a geeky post solely for those that use Firefox (rather than Internet Explorer). If this isn’t you, your probably best to skip this update alltogether.

For the rest of you geeks, I would like to suggest a couple of extensions that will dramatically improve your browsing experience.

Firstly – FasterFox.
As the name suggests this one is all about speed. It has dramatically improved my browsing performance at work where I have a relatively ‘unlimited’ pipe. I’m yet to try it at home where the limitation is more likely to be my connection, but regardless I am impressed. Also worthy of a ‘coolness’ mention is the page load timer tat is included with this extension.

Next on the list…
IE Tab
Now I am sure that some of you already use IE View, which opens a given page in IE – very useful for those trubblesome IE only pages. Well, life has just become even easier…
IE Tab simply uses the IE browser version while still in Firefox! So now you can include those pesky IE only pages in your tabbed browsing, automatically make certain pages run in IE seamlessly., and no longer get annoyed at Adam and Nick for the faults that sometimes appear on thier page in Firefox. This is sheer brilliance!

Other extensions of note (if you dont already have them) are:

  • Download Statusbar
  • The official Google Toolbar (I do like the word translator thats built in
  • ReloadEvery (I owe 2 U2 tickets to this handy tool
  • Web Developer
  • Spell Bound
  • Flash Block
  • Bug Me Not
  • Seeing as this has been a geeky update so far, I feel it only justified to finish it off with a link to Gizmodos Best Of… competition. I can’t believe those are the three finalists. The Ipod is cool, but hardly revolutionary. The PSP has a very limited target audience, and the Treo is a business focused device with limited mass market appeal. Then again, this year hasn’t exactly been the year of gadget innovation!
