The man across the road...

I have a pair of noise reduction headphones… I love them to bits. They block almost all sound, and replace it with MP3 goodness.

But the amazing thing about them is actually when you stop using them and take them out of your ears…

The noise is suddenly deafening.

Some days it’s the Air Conditioning
Others its people talking, or phones ringing.

Today it was keyboards tapping. That submissive overpowering tap-a-tap-tap-click-tap of an office full of people.

It made me stop and just listen for a while – and realise how rediculious it all is.

People socailising with those around them without every actually making the effort to go talk to them.

On the weekend we met this guy from across the road. Him and his new puppy.
It was delightful to meet him and just have a chat for a few minutes. It made my day.

Is this something we are loosing in the digital age?

Or is the recent trend in ‘community based web content’ likely to reverse this trend?
