Last night we went eclipse hunting…

I figured theres plenty of moon shots on here already, so I thought I’d share our ‘standard’ stargazing experience.

Its well rehearsed after a number of meteor hunting exhibitions.

3am – foggy and cold…

the alarm went off.

out of bed.

downstairs.

outside for a scouting look.

brrr… rrrrhhhhh….

GOLD! Its clear above us (even if foggy on the ground)

rush back inside.

clothes on

sleeping bag, tripod, 300mm lens – pile into car.

whoops – back inside for the actual camera (I am a bit chaotic when excited).

into car and down the road.

pull into a clearing.

Hat, gloves and scarf – check

Heated seats on – check

Sleeping bag as blanket – check

Roof off – and watch the show.

Ok, so its hardly ‘roughing it’, but S1 would probably pass on the trip if it involved waiting on a frozen park bench while I tried to get that magic shot.

We’ve even named our car after her special ‘skill’ – shes known as Halley.
