A stunningly clear, calm and hot day and we have stopped on the 45th parallel, which runs across the lower quarter of the South Island. The grapes on the vines across the lake are due to be picked this week and the cloth is working well to keep the birds away, but doesn’t stop the rabbits of which there are ‘zillions’ running around these dry hills ……. fortunately they don’t eat the grapes but do decimate everything else;-)
This peaceful scene was too tempting for gd so another quick fish – but no luck ………. think the fish would be able to spot a fisherman from the other side of the lake so would be much too smart to be caught!
