I often find tourist towns a little uncomfortable
For me I prefer to get off the beaten track and into locals territory
My ideal holiday spot is the sort of place when no one speaks english and the menus don’t come in english (and certainly don’t have pictures).
In saying that, occasionally we find a real gem
It’s often the sort of tourist place that is full of ‘local tourists’. People visiting places that their own country has to offer, rather than designed for international bus tours.
It can be a great mix of local cultures while still being geared up for visitors.
This trip we were lucky enough to get some advise from one of my local work mates… he filled it full of just the sort of stuff we love.
