Went to the market at Maryborough this morning and then explored the city. In the late 1800s & early 1900s it was the main immigration port for Queensland, and the service centre for the local industries (gold, wool, timber, sugar).
It is a beautifully restored city – wide streets, magnificent buildings, the meandering Mary river and many parkland areas …………. and was also the home of P L Travers, the author of Mary Poppins.
