After a very cold wet day yesterday this is what greeted me this morning. A bonus of my quick trip to Nelson is that I could stay with my brother and his wife who have just moved into their new home on a one acre section in a rural area, and this is the view from their living area – what a wonderful way to start the day.
The main reason for my visit is for the funeral of my 93 year old who aunt died last week. She has been ill for a long time and was happy to leave this world and join her husband who died more than 30 years ago, but it is always hard for family to say their final farewell when she has been a huge part of their daily lives. While she was very weak and had been in hospital for most of the past year, her mind was still very sharp and she could accurately tell us all about her grandchildren’s work and activities when we visited last year.
I spent most of my childhood days playing with my cousins as we all lived in Alexandra, but since we left school and went different directions we very rarely meet, however it is intriguing that families seem to always ‘pick up where they left off’ as though we had barely been apart 🙂
