It was meant to be a quick detour…

Lets go to the source of the Thames…

In hindsight, it was one of those trips that was always doomed to turn into another ‘Mark adventure’.

Don’t worry, I have detailed instructions from wikipedia

Lesson 1): Don’t trust wikipedia ever!

Lesson 2): People on the internet may say East when they mean West…

There’s photos on here which show it’s by a big tree

Lesson 3): It’s not that tree you see in the distance, it’s actually the one just over the ridge a short stroll behind you.

2 hours later we finally made it to the head of the Thames

Lesson 4): The head of the Thames is actually dry in summer…

On the plus, despite taking 2 hours to walk there it was only a 15min stroll back to the car. Which was lucky as it was almost dark.

Mark ships off overseas this week… I’ll miss these odd adventures 🙂
