Tonight we went out hunting the Aurora, just in case.
I had a feeling it was a long shot, but after watching the charts, satellites and figures all day I figured it was worth a chance.
We were very far south at 48deg from magnetic north. We timed the trip perfectly just as the intensity hit it’s high of the night (6 Kp)… but still no luck.
Just too far south and too much light pollution in England.
Despite not seeing the Aurora, there was plenty to see zipping overhead.
All in all a lovely spot we found to watch the sky roll past for an hour.
A good way to spend a late summer evening.
