1am
my feet landed softly before my eyes had opened fully
A glance out the window to a clear sky
Downstairs and out into the cool night
I’d only been set up for about 15 min when the sky exploded with a streak of light
It’s peeled slowly across the sky for about a second
Leaving behind it a distorting and fading trail.
The drips falling from the tree behind me echoed around the field
This should have alerted to me to just how heavy the dew was getting
However by the time I noticed my camera had fogged, it was too late
I was left with just a star trail with no signs of the meteors that had followed soon after.
I saw dozens and dozens of small meteorites, shooting star like
But the early morning was well worth it to see the 4 or 5 giant fireballs that lept across the sky.
Oh, and so I don’t forgot
Just after 2 am the oddest thing happened
A low pulsing rumble started to build in the sky behind me
It grew louder, closer until it was deafening above me
about 30sec after it had started, it crossed over head with a raw
and then faded quickly away…
the odd thing was I saw no sign of it’s source?
Just a perfectly clear sky, with a meteor or two.
Very strange indeed.
