Around 10.30am this morning, S1 officially gave me budget approval to order my first real stereo system… it’s her present to me for my 30th. More on that in another blip sometime.
Then, about 12.30pm while nibbling on a carrot, I discovered something remarkable with my new phone
With just a little bit of geeking I’ve managed to finally achieve a dream I’ve had for a phone for years… semi life automation.
It’s taken a couple of hours, but I’m so happy with the results.
I’m one happy geek!
When my alarm goes off in the morning, it will also open the news and weather sites I normally check for the day.
If it’s a Mon/Wed/Fri it’ll also open my favourite comic for fun
When I get in the car, it’ll automatically switch on navigation, speed camera alerts, load up some music for the drive and start tracking my location and sending it to the internet for my later use.
Oh, it’ll also read out any SMS/Emails that come in while driving.
Then when I get to work, it shuts them all down again and switches into battery saving mode. Switching off data for 4min out of every 5 while I’m at the PC and the phone is sitting unused, and then bringing it all back online the moment I start using the phone
If it is looking like a busy day and battery might be a stretch, it’ll start turning off items and subtly dimming the screen to save battery as the day progresses, just to last that little bit longer.
When I get home, it turns on wifi again and logs onto the home network
and finally when I plug in the phone at night, and turn the phone face down it’ll turn itself to silent and shut down the data to avoid unwanted beeps during the night
Through the night it’ll track my sleep, and then choose an optimal time to wake me up the next morning based on my sleeping patterns…
and so the cycle repeats.
