Years ago I was put on a food hygiene course for a uni job.

Animals and kitchens don’t mix, although they did point out one noticeable exception

The chefs cat.

Cats saliva has a mild antibacterial agent in it, designed to help keep their coats from smelling.

That makes them surprisingly hygienic for a kitchen

And when combined with their ability to catch other pests, makes them a real asset.

I always find something suitably homely about a pub cat

This giant guy was curled up by the fire when we arrived

But he soon spotted an endless up supply of pats, so spent much of the night getting plenty of attention from P.

What a lovely night at the pub with friends.
