Cruised around Manhattan Island today – fascinating to see a large area of New York without skyscrapers. An aim of the current mayor is to have a ‘green strip’ completely around the Island and it looks as though that is happening with parks,sports areas, walking/jogging tracks along a large section of the Hudson River.

This photo shows apartment buildings with Lower Manhattan in the distance, and just out from the jetties is where “the Plane’ landed in the river. The jetties are where many ferries are based so there were plenty of readily available rescue vessels nearby. Brilliant effort by the captain and crew as there were no lives lost – an amazing feat 🙂
