Why do we do this? Day in, day out?
When I first started, it was for the challenge
and then, for a while, it was the comments I loved
and then, well then it became for our friends and family.
It’s been an amazing way to stay in touch across the world.
When your 12hrs time difference from home, even simple phone calls take some planning.
But blip, well it’s always there.
We cant pop home to visit for a weekend or duck in for Sunday dinner.
So instead, we pop in for a few minutes every day with a new blip.
But as the blips have progressed,
It’s become more and more about the record.
The memories.
In years to come, I’ll look back on this daily record and remember.
Better than that, with each image being 1000 words, I can ‘re-live’ each moment.
A moment suspended in history
A snapshot of each day preserved for the days to come. I love that this exists.
So, what have I learnt?
A little effort goes a long way.
10 min out of your way can lead to something stunning rather than another desperate shot.
I think that applies to a lot of life
It’s not even that I intended to take a photo every day for this long.
Some days I even decided to skip, but eventually took a shot ‘just in case’
and now, 1500 days on, it has a life of it’s own.
Looking back at it all, and watching others, what is very clear is this.
Blip is something different to us all. Something personal, yet something shared.
For an idea that started in one mans bedroom, it’s grown to deliver so much to so many.
Congrats Joe, G and blip central. What you have created here is something truly special.
