On the corner of Cashel Mall this bar is the only building remaining when every other building in the area has been demolished. Looking through the windows it looks as though the bar hasn’t been entered since the earthquake on 22 February.

Glasses, bottles and cutlery are still on the tables, some plates are stacked nearby, there is even a hat lying on a table by the door. Many water bottles are standing on the bar, and there are a few broken glasses on the floor.

After looking through the windows for a while, it starts to feel strange – everything standing upright, no food on the tables, very few alcohol bottles, the chairs are quite orderly…………. not as though there had been a rushed exit.

Maybe the bar has been tidied since the earthquake, but why was so much left the way it is and why were some partially full wine glasses left on the table??
