It must be spring, the shrews are out of hibernation.

This little guy was brought in unharmed, and promptly (and accidentally) let loose in S1’s shoe.

S1 was quick off the mark, flipping it into our custom made mouse catcher.

Shrews are harmless and easy to catch compared to their mouse cousins. I think this little guy will survive fine after being in our catch and release programme.

I love how helpful people are. I firmly believe that 99.999% of people are lovely honest folk (and its a minority that lead to the ‘never talk to strangers mentality’). I had good proof of this today.

Flat battery again this morning. It could have been a problem, but last night our neighbors volunteered some loan jump leads. How nice of them as it got me to work.

Then at lunch, I went to get a battery. Except I was going nowhere. Despite a 40min charge this morning, dead again… until two friends at work happily offered to give me a push start. 2 min later we were away again (even without hitting parked cars… but that’s a different story).

And so it was on to the garage, where one of the politest and most helpful service manager you could ever meet sorted me out, even loaning me tools and helping me to switch it over. Service with a smile.

While a flat battery could have ruined my day, instead I came away reminded of how many people are willing to chip in to help others in need. The world is a wonderful place.

Today I’m grateful for:

– A job which is flexible. I can work anywhere and hours that suit which makes a massive difference to my life.

– I had a lot of people asking for help today. I get a kick out of that – not so much the helping, but more seeing other people learn new things.

– My wonderful S1 doing the online shopping each week for us. I arrived home tonight to another planned meal all ready to go and even fresh beer in the fridge. Thanks S1!
