A strange image, but it sums up our first night near Rosebud on the Mornington peninsula.
After a very hot day (40C when we drove through in Geelong) we arrived at our resort in time for a swim and then off to the chinese restaurant for dinner. Just as the first part of our meal arrived we were plunged into darkness. The combination of heat and a holiday weekend (with lots of visitors staying in the area) overloaded the local substation.
The staff at the restaurant were quick to bring out these elegant candles, and the kitchen staff continued cooking – with gas but no lights. The meal was delicious …….. but it was very hot in the kitchen with no power for fans or ventilation. A fun night which could have been a disaster if the staff hadn’t been so efficient and positive .
