The delightful Spanish Mission style shops are a feature of Christchurch, and have only reopened in the past few weeks after major earthhquake restoration. But they are struggling, as there only 5 or 6 shops open so far, there are very few people about, and the area is mostly empty spaces, piles of rubble and demolition sites.
I hope that more shops open soon and that local people support the owners who are there with a variety of boutique stores. The coffee is good, and a fudge shop is tempting ………. and when this building is fully demolished, and the land tidied, the street will open through to the river 🙂
