When I was a young mum Alison Holst was starting her career as a very talented NZ cook who created and promoted very tasty, economical, healthy and easy to prepare meals and baking for families……… and I do mean ‘cook’ as the modern recipes promoted by TV ‘chefs’ are far to complicated and time consuming for me

She was a huge influence when I was establishing my cooking and baking style, and still is a favourite of mine as her recipes are quick and easy, use everyday ingredients which I have in my cupboard, and are always a success. Her son Simon has now joined her in producing a new range of cook books, including this one for slow cookers.

I made Chicken Teriyaki for Waitangi Day dinner, and it was scrumptious served with several vegetables freshly picked from our garden 🙂
