We thought our group of 7 was going to Manapouri for our annual flatmates reunion, but we were taken to a beautiful setting on a huge Southland sheep and cattle station where we stayed in the fabulous homestead and, eventhough we were self catering, we enjoyed the very best of meals prepared with meat from the farm.
Our first night was BBQed prime Angus steaks, and night two was a leg of lamb which had been placed into the roasting dish, a bottle of beer poured over it and then slow roasted for 8 hours …. all accompanied by an abundance of fresh vegetables, salads, bread, wine and then dessert. Delicious.
