Last week two EQR guys arrived to mark two ‘spots’ for the geotech testing of our land. Another guy arrived later to check there were no cables, drains or water pipes around the sites.

We arrived home today as yet another two EQR geotech guys we packing up their gear. They had augered and tested two spots by our house. One at the back of the garage and another one behind the house.

When we asked if they were going to test the spot on our driveway they said ‘no, the engineer wanted the land tested at the back of the house’. When questioned why this spot was on the driveway they thought the first guys had got it wrong – eventhough I had seen the plan on their iPad. After several questions they said they couldn’t test the spot on the driveway as the concrete cutters hadn’t been to cut the hole for their auger!!!

Now we don’t know if one day someone will come and cut a hole in our drive, or if in a month or [s]two[/s] [s]three[/s] six we will be told that more testing has to be done in the right place, or if we will just have to live with this very bright number 1 painted on our driveway.

It seemed to us that this fairly simple test could have been completed in one visit by two people, instead it took three visits by five people ………. and there is no certainty that it has been done right. How incompetent can an organization be!!
