CJ had a follow up eye test today. Another round of eye drops to dilate his eyes.
This time they put an eye patch on to help test each eye independently. I sort of wish they hadn’t as it’s given a horrible glimpse into what the future may hold.
His eye’s haven’t changed much since the first test. They originally downscaled his prescription to help him get used to it, so this time they have upped it to full strength.
The bad news: he needs to go back every 2 months so they can closely monitor things.
Wearing a patch full time down the line isn’t yet off the cards either, I desperately wanted them to tell us that it would be unlikely, but I knew I was just hopeful. It sounds like there’s a reasonable chance he may have to wear one for a while at some point.
In saying that, I did have to laugh when they were showing him sight cards with pictures and he could see more in them than I could.
Back before we had him I was asked which part of my partner I hoped he would inherit, I said “her eyes” almost instantly. I do love her green eyes, but my answer was an entirely rational answer as I hoped dearly that he wouldn’t have to go through days like today.
On the positive side, he’s very good with his glasses. He’s so careful with them and actually likes wearing them.
