I’d forgotten how different the New Zealand winters are.
Cold nights and crisp mornings, blossoming into beautiful mid-teens days.
It’s not just emotional either, there’s something fundamentally different here. The light meter readings across all my cameras are coming up 1 to 2 stops brighter than I was normally getting in the UK.
I’d forgotten the culture shock of the first winter in the UK. Ice hanging from the trees and days barely climbing over 0.
Now I’m back in NZ I can see why that was such a shock. I can also see why I’m also finding the winter here so mild, I’m in just a shirt each day while most people are fully rugged up.
