2 years ago today was hell. But it been an adventure since then.

3 months ago today we arrived in NZ. Today is a bit of a milestone really.

We originally set ourselves 3 months for me to find a job. Today was the day we earmarked to have the conversation of “do we stay in Christchurch and keep looking, or are things not moving fast enough and we need to look further afield.”

When we set that time frame, we didn’t expect to be 2 months into a job and having found a house. We are doing pretty well.

That’s a big change from 2 years ago. 2 years ago S1 was in hospital while I was negotiating a new job. It was a ‘pick up and move the family’ move that was scary at the time.

Our only contingency was just enough in the bank to pack up and move back to NZ. 6 months ago that worst case scenario came true. But looking at where we are now and life is looking pretty good.

It’s been a 2 year adventure of up and downs, that’s for sure. But right now I find myself looking at little LJ and thinking ‘we’re doing alright’.

Amongst everything that’s happened, this delightful little monkey, full of mischief, seems to put everything into perspective.
