S2 took us to Blenheim Palace today and it was a hive of industry.

There were many cordons and barricades going up and coming down, we had to wait to cross courtyards, or stay indoors behind guarded doors.

S2, who was snapping away with his SLR, was approached by a big burly security guard and asked who he worked for, and was then told ‘no cameras allowed’ ….. although the guard didn’t worry about our little point and shoots.

It is a beautiful place and we happily explored the gardens, toured through the Palace and dodged/waited for crews, cranes, hoists, green screen repositioning, and actors in assorted costumes ………….. Gullivers Travels was being filmed on the site. In fairness the disruption to our visit was minimal, and quite intriguing to watch proceedings.

Of course when the movie came out we had to see it, although we weren’t that impressed ……….. and maybe a bit disappointed that we didn’t see our cheeky faces peeking through the Palace windows!!!
