Last day of our holiday – a quick trip but very enjoyable in a special area of NZ.
Bay of Islands is a very historic area of NZ as it is where Captain Cook first stepped onto New Zealand land, the early settlers arrived and many mission settlements were established, the treaty of Waitangi was signed between Britain and the Maori, the first capital of NZ was here ……….. so has a lot of significance to Kiwis. It is also a beautiful place in the warm winterless north and is a very popular tourist destination with many water based activities ……………. especially renowned for the deep sea fishing trips to catch ‘big ‘marlin.
This is an early morning shot from the waterfront at Paihia, and I have back blipped the past few days if you are interested in a taking a quick look at some other images of this area.
