Our Chinese community held their annual lantern festival this weekend.
A fantastic spectacle as Victoria Square was ablaze with lighted lanterns – traditional bright red ones strung above the walkways and stalls, animal lanterns (dogs, cats, mice, sheep, cows, zebras, penguins & many more), chinese dragons, and brightly lit gondolas drifting up and down the river. A huge amount of time and effort must have gone into this display which was well appreciated by a huge Christchurch crowd on a mild March evening.
I particularly like the dragon cruising down the Avon river …… looks like Nessie decided to leave her scottish loch and head to the warmer south!!
