We thought holidays in Queensland would always be centred around the beach. However in the far north it seems the beaches aren’t so popular and most swimming is in the pools.

With deadly stingers in the water in the summer, crocodiles lurking in the shallows in the winter, and the winds and currents stirring up the sand, the beaches were not as appealing as we expected.

It was not a problem, but it was a surprise.
