Silence – no movement, no sounds (apart from than the birds and crickets, and the wind gently rustling in the trees).

Thinking – of those who lost their life, family, friend, home, business, income

Special thoughts for those who are mentioned the least …….. the people who were injured, maimed, traumatised, paralysed, and live in constant pain.

Everyday for them and their families is a challenge, and will continue to be so for the years to come.

Many will get a new home, new business, new job, but many many people are unable to get a new body, and will have to live every minute of their life with the ongoing trauma caused by the devastation 1 year ago.

The city has many forms of remembrance today – one is decorating our orange cones. When I went for my early morning walk someone had already been out and placed a flower in all the cones in my neighbourhood. I do like the simplicity of this remembrance.
