The silver birch catkins are pretty at the moment, but they were pesky catkins when we had a swimming pool. The pool was often covered in them and they had to be scooped off before anyone could swim, and they regularly clogged the filter.

However today I have a camera, and no pool to worry about, so the catkins appealed.
