A stunning day in Christchurch. Clear blue sky, bright sunshine, no wind and 17 degrees C.
I was out and about so thought I would stop in the city to take some photos of changes there ……….. but when I arrived it was diabolical with traffic jams, road works, broken buildings, new constructions, etc. and I just didn’t want to be there. It is not the city I know and love.
So made a quick turn out of the traffic and stopped by the Art Gallery to see what I could find – and these colours and lines appealed. It is called “You Are Here”, was created by local artist Matt Akehurst, and shows the direction and distance to famous pieces of art around the world.
It is part of the Outer Spaces programme which comprises sculptures, paintings, & displays dotted around the central city to compensate for the closure of our Art Gallery while it awaits repairs.
I might try and find some more of these to record our current city as the building aspect of it is quite depressing.
