The first power station built on the Waikato river.

The gates are opened for 30 minutes, 3 or 4 times a day, and the water flows through the Aratiatia rapids making a spectacular sight for tourists. We were driving to Rotorua to catch a plane, so only had a few minutes to watch the gates opening and the water begin to flow through the very narrow rapids.

Landed in Christchurch, straight down to Rolleston to collect molly from Bunny Lodge, then home to drop suitcases and dog, then away again a xmas party at mum’s hospital/home.

After a very relaxed and peaceful holiday the silly season has restarted!!
