DM&B are here for 5 days – YAY 🙂
They lived in Christchurch for 2 years then returned to Guernsey in 2007, but have been back to NZ many many times, although not in Christchurch since the earthquake.
We walked through all the Central city area and they were stunned – very quiet and in awe of the devastation in what should have been familiar territory.
However the smiles returned when we walked through New Regent St and the tram trundled past. Something familiar at last 🙂
We then drove through the worst of the residential areas and over to Sumner – rough driving, and I find it unbelievable that parts of the city are still in such a terrible state three years on.
Tomorrow we are off to Hanmer, hoping for clear skies and warm temperatures, but especially to enjoy time in the outdoors, with lots of laughter, in the company of treasured friends.
The earthquakes have taught us that that is the most important thing in life 🙂
