In simple terms that means the pain and swelling in gd’s ankle is caused by a bone chip floating around his ankle joint which sometimes lodges in a place which causes him pain.

Probably not related to the game of squash he had with a very good sportsman considerably younger than him, who plays squash regularly, whereas gd hasn’t played for 20 years!?!?!?!

And probably rest and elevation aren’t the solution to help it repair quickly!!!
