Its the age old question – How do I make my small MP3 player work like an Ipod???
Today’s update is one I have been meaning to do for a while… I’ll have to keep it short as I am currently one hand down so typings a bit hard, but that’s another story – more on that later.
Today’s update requires a big thank you to Maxwell for his assistance, as he has helped me solve a long term problem.
I listen to music on my way to and from work each day, I don’t own an ipod, and can’t justify buying a large MP3 player as work is only 5 min away. So instead I have a small memory card in my phone that I use…
This works fine, it holds enough music for me to get back and fourth between home and work. But the downside is that I have to change the music regurally. This is a tedious process of deleting the old songs, selecting some new ones, and saving them to the memory card. Its a long way from having the Ipod experience of a random selection of ever changing music…
That was where Maxwell and I stepped in.
With a batch script, an excel macro and a bit of quick thinking, we have solved this problem once and for all.
Now, when I plug my memory card into my machine, it automatically removes all the existing songs, indexes my mp3 collection, selects songs at random and saves them to the card.
So now, I perminantley have an ever changing set of MP3s. Its the Ipod experience for a fraction of the cost.
The scripts will work for all MP3 players (etc) that show up as an additional drive (ie. it wont work Ipod minis etc that require special software).
If you have a device that matches this description, and think this may be of use to you, then drop me a line and I will gladly send you a copy of the files 🙂
