Ok, so its been a while since our last update, and a fair bit has happened. Of course none of it was particularly exciting… So I will have to use a little creative licence in todays update.
Actually, I think I’ll tell you two storys which may or may not be true, and you can decided for yourself if neither/either/both are real.
The first involves a soldering iron (I’ve attached a pic I happened to have in my phone from fixing the car a while ago) and Maxwell (photos of him are available all over the net already).
Maxwell came around on the weekend, and we decided it was about time we fixed up a number of things around the house. One of these included using a hacksaw and a soldering iron. We survived the hacksaw without incident, but the moment the soldering iron was turned on, Maxwell seemed to loose all sense of saftey.
Sure enough, it was only a matter of time before he was standing by the sink with his fingers under cold water. No sooner had he sat back down, and hed done it again. It was almost comical to watch! This scene repeated itself over and over, some of the time I saved him in time, others I just say back and watched him jump as he leaned on the soldering iron again and again.
Ok, so onto story 2…
Yesterday I was heading to the camera store, I was after a set of filters for the front of my camera.
So anyway, i’m running late to get there before closing… But half way there I spied a guy walking the other way who looked to be a pro photographer (the 10 grand of equipment slung over his shoulders was a dead give away. So I thought i’d try my luck for advise on the filters I was about to buy, so I stopped him and asked if he uses them?
From there it took a bit of a turn towards the surreal… He responded in a sort of mock english/french mix. I didn’t really understand, so I teeif asking in a slightly different way…
Apparently what ever I asked translated into ‘yes I speak fluid french, and i’d like to know what you do?’.
From there he spent around 10 minutes explaining something that probably would have sounded very interesting
If it was in English. I did manage to pick up that he works for national geographic, he has just been working in Iraq and Afghanistan and prior to that he was doing something for the french president (or he was blackmauling him? I’m not really sure).
After the first couple of minutes it became almost a game to see how long I could keep him talking by nodding and smiling at the right times, or shaking my head, or whatever reaction seemed to match with his toge and body language. It was rather interesting despite not really knowing what he was saying.
I never did find out if he uses filters…
And by the time I got to the store they had shut :-/
