Today I would like to introduce you into the first of a number of new features that are planned for the site… but before I get to that I should explain why:

For the 5th anniversary of this site we launched a totally new web design.

The year before (4th anniversary) I switched our site to be database driven.

The 3rd Anniversary brought a total redesign as well (you may remember the red one that took and age to load).

The 2nd anniversary was the launch of the diary and the first real site design.

The 1st web design I made is simply embarrassing, but it was 6 years ago (and I had to start some where).

So anyway, we have recently passed the 6th anniversary of this site (the 17th Sept). You may have noticed unlike other years this passed reasonably quietly… no big redesign, no big changes.

Well this year we have gone for revolution not evolution. The last big redesign we did we planned a little further ahead, and made things a little more flexible. The result is that we can roll out new features easily without having to completely redesign the site.

So for this years birthday I started working quietly behind the scenes on some ideas. The first one is the ‘recent reading’ list down the side of our site.

Some of you may spot some interesting articles that you want to read pop up down the side. They should change reasonably often so just keep your eye open…

This section has a dual purpose, it allows us to share some of the interesting articles we have found, and it will also act as an archive for interesting tidbits that we find.

All feedback welcome, and hopefully we will have some other new features rolling out shortly…
