I have new glasses lenses today.

All day the whole world has been spinning whenever I turn my head, it always takes a few days to get used to the new distortions from new lenses. It feels like I’m trapped in a fish bowl.

Walking out into the fog tonight was almost a welcome relief. With everything muffled in a soft blurry blanket, my peripheral vision seemed to have less detail to blur and distort. It was almost peaceful.

My last ones only lasted 2 years which is very short for me (especially given the cost). A combo of scratches and a changing prescription meant I simply couldn’t see detail work. I was starting to get very frustrated at not being able to see circuit boards or read small font kids books.

Note to future self. Trying Hoya lenses this time as the Nikon scratch coating on the last pair was terrible… Especially on the inside. I even had to get a lens replaced in the 2 years for scratches and still they are now stuffed. It’s a shame given how good the previous 2 sets of Nikon lenses were, somethings changed for the worse so time I vote with my wallet.
