I forgot to mention one of the highlights of having internet problems

Earlier this week, I called the virgin support desk and hit a real muppet.

Anyway, I explained I had a problem with the router and explained what it was.

She dismissed everything without acknowledgement, and moved onto the standard questions.

After a few questions, it was clear she had no technical knowledge at all.

I tried to relax and bide my time. Sure enough, we soon hit the one question I was waiting for…

“What operating system are you using”.

“um, why? This is a router firmware issue not a setup issue”

“but what operating system so you use sir?”

“Ubuntu Linux 10.10 Netbook edition Beta 0.9b…”

“Oh, um”

“Oh, and redhat Linux, and android 2.2 and 2.3”

“arrrr”

“and Kubuntu, iOS 3, XP and a couple of generic linux distros”

“….”

“oh, and windows 7 professional.”

“Silence”

Eventually she said

“Did you say windows 7?”

“Yes”

“Oh, ok, lets check your network settings on that”
