Headed away from Christchurch to my ‘2nd childhood home’ today.
It felt just like old times
The first drops of snow dusting the mountains
The rolling river that guards the entrance way to town
The last of the summer greens mixed with the golden autumn
And the stretching valley rolling into the distance.
Tucked up in the back seat, a dog beside me, happily watching the road roll past.
As we flowed past the final hills into town, the car came to a halt as my Mum and I both called ‘Blip!’
We shot out of the car into the cool smell of pine, and snapped away as e last of the sun rays faded for the day.
Hanmer Springs is one of my favourite spots in the world. It’s great to be back.
