I’ve been trying to find any research into childrens development and screens.
The answer, there isn’t anything out there.
There is plenty on TV, which ultimately mostly says screens are bad. They don’t encourage any social interaction.
But there is nothing on phones or tablets.
Something intuitive says playing with CJ and a touch device should overcome many of the TV downside. It’s certainly helped with concepts such as texture, spacial awareness and hand eye coordination.
I shouldn’t have been surprised there is no research, after all,
the children born into the post iPhone world are only now in kindergarten.
How quickly the world changes.
So for the moment, fireman Sam here is relegated to only being allowed in real toys and a little screen time on the iPad occasionally.
