Baby Shane
Once apon a time there was a little boy named Shane Heenan.
Shane was born in a little town called Timaru about half way down the east coast of New Zealand's South Island. While still a baby, Shanes' parents packed up 'Little Shane' and moved him off to Christchurch.
Growing Up
I went to range of kindys. The reasons for this I'm not entirely sure of (give me a break, it was a while ago now) but I remember hating one of them, and I remember that the other one was beside a Betting Agtent :-)
From there I went onto Westburn Primary School in Christchurch and then to Burnside High School.
At Burnside I was heavily involved in Theatresports (impromptu acting). It was because of this that I somehow managed to get hauled in to help on the Tech Crew (Stage Sound and Light). It was here that I met Sarah, in fact she spent her time telling me what to do - its nice to see that some things never change!
Working
After leaving school I went through the University of Canterbury and picked up a Marketing Degree.
From there I managed to get a place on the New Zealand Post graduate programme. This was great as I got to work in a number of different areas of the company and in a variety of marketing teams before finally setting into marketing.
Following New Zealand Post I moved into the communications sector with a role in Vodafone New Zealand. I spent 3 years here doing a variety of product manager roles including Messaging and Prepay Product management.
After 3 years in New Zealand we decided to move to the UK and I managed to pick up a job with Vodafone UK.
2 years on, I decided it was time for a change and a broadening of experience so I have moved back into a business to business role with the worlds leading mobile messaging vendor - Acision
Spare Time
A few years ago, Sarah let me purchase a digital SLR. Since then I have become a keen photographer. You can seem some examples of my shots in the photography section of this site.
Alongside this, Sarah and I are enjoying the travel freedom that living in Europe brings.
I am a bit of a geek and spare some of my spare time on the computer or pulling apart various electronics.
It is not uncommon to see the insides of something spread all over the lounge floor with me sitting in the middle of it all. For some reason, Sarah seems to find this funny, but I haven't yet seen her complaining about the things that I have fixed for her!
Other bit and peices...
While my current job entails a lot of travelling throughout the week, we often find ourselves using the weekends to explore the beautiful English country side. We can often be seen out and about on a nice summers day enjoying a new bit of the country that we haven't seen before.
