Site of the day is Dreadnought WK

Last night I decided to wear and wash my new pants... All of the reviews I have seen for them basically say:
These baby's can stand up by themselves when new off the rack, but 3-4 wash and wear cycles and they soften up, and you'll never want to take them off.

So last night I decided to give them a go around the house. To start with sitting was a struggle as they didn't really want to bend, but after a bit of coaxing I was on the couch with the laptop in hand - ok, so it was't the most vigorous first wearing i might have thrown at them, abut a wearing it was.

Things were going well, until I went to wash my hands for tea... apparently the heavy duty (tent) canvas they are made from gets some form of waterproofing treatment... which in turn meant my hands have now had the same treatment.

After eventually scrubbing my hands back to an almost normal level of water propelling, I stopped to think for a second. If my hands were like that, what were my legs going to be like?

That made my shower this morning interesting, I won't go into showering detail, buts just say I now know how ducks feel when then get out of a pond - the water just beads off them. This may also explaining the quote in one of the online reviews for the pants: "just the ducks nuts in work wear".

Anyway, back to the story...

Waterproof pants were still reasonably appealing as a concept - especially given Auckland's tendency for very wet summers.

This liking for the waterproof pants concept took a slight turn. It was washing time. I decided to follow the washing instructions closely, and hand wash the first time.

Now of course I am using the term washing in its loosest sense, as normally washing involves wetting the clothes, rather than just filling the pockets with water and watching the water disappear off the pants as quick as you tip it on.

It was then that I discovered the other problem with waterproof pants...

Once you have finished washing them, you can't just hang them upside down to dry... as all of the water caught in the waterproof pockets goes everywhere. On that note, if any one has any ideas how I can earn some brownie points with Sarah in a hurry - then I'd love to hear them.

ok, you now have to post photos of these pants and tell me where you aquired them... or post links to these reviews etc... they sound too interesting to not further investigate.

I should post an update... its now almost a year on and these babys are comfy and soft. The jeans I brought at roughly the same time are about to be replaced, but the Dreadnought WK's are still going strong (despite being worn more than the jeans!).

I tried to convince Sarah to let me buy another pair, but she said 'not until those ones wear out a bit'... at this rate it may be a while.
